Key Terms

class a common stock financial
Class A common stock is a category of a company’s shares that carries a specific set of ownership rights—most commonly defined voting power and claims on dividends—set out in the company’s charter. For investors it matters because the class determines how much influence you have over corporate decisions, the share’s likely dividend and trading behavior, and how it compares in value to other share classes, like choosing a particular seat with different privileges at the company’s decision-making table.
nasdaq stock market llc financial
Nasdaq Stock Market LLC is the company that operates the Nasdaq electronic stock exchange, a large centralized marketplace where shares of publicly traded companies are listed and bought and sold. Think of it as a high-speed digital auction house and storefront combined: being listed there gives a company visibility and easier access to many buyers, while investors benefit from transparent prices, fast trades and regulated rules that help protect fair trading.
ticker symbol financial
A ticker symbol is a short, unique code of letters or characters that identifies a publicly traded security on an exchange — like a car’s license plate or a person’s nickname for the market. Investors use ticker symbols to look up live prices, place trades, and follow news; using the correct symbol makes sure you’re tracking or buying the intended stock, bond, or fund and helps avoid costly mix-ups.
solid-state lithium-metal battery technical
A solid-state lithium-metal battery is a rechargeable battery that replaces the flammable liquid inside conventional lithium-ion cells with a solid material and uses lithium metal for the charge-storing electrode. That change can pack more energy into the same size, charge faster and reduce fire risk, so it matters to investors because it can lower costs, improve product performance (for electric vehicles and devices) and reshape supply chains if it becomes commercially viable.

Ticker symbol will remain “QS”

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- QuantumScape Corporation (NYSE: QS), a global leader in next-generation solid-state lithium-metal battery technology, today announced that it will voluntarily transfer the listing of its Class A Common Stock to The Nasdaq Stock Market LLC (“Nasdaq”) from the New York Stock Exchange, effective after the close on December 22, 2025. The company expects to begin trading as a Nasdaq-listed company on December 23, 2025.

The company will continue to trade under its current ticker symbol “QS”. The transfer will include all of QS's publicly traded securities. The company has met all listing requirements for Nasdaq and expects a smooth transition with no disruption to trading activities.

“We’re proud to join Nasdaq’s community alongside some of the most innovative companies in the world,” said Kevin Hettrich, Chief Financial Officer of QS. “We look forward to this exciting opportunity to partner with Nasdaq to better serve our shareholders.”

“QuantumScape is a trailblazer in the electric mobility space, and we’re thrilled to welcome them into the Nasdaq family,” said J.R. Mastroianni, Head of Exchange Transfers, Listings Services at Nasdaq.
