Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

5 terms
non-gaap financial measures financial
"This press release includes certain non-GAAP financial measures"
Non-GAAP financial measures are numbers companies use to show their financial performance that exclude certain expenses or income. They help investors see how the company might perform without one-time costs or other unusual items, giving a different perspective from official reports. However, since they can be adjusted, they don’t always tell the full story and should be looked at alongside standard financial figures.
net interest margin financial
"The net interest margin in the third quarter of 2026 was 3.63%"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
common equity tier 1 capital regulatory
"Consolidated common equity tier 1 capital to risk-weighted assets increased"
Core capital a bank holds consisting mainly of common shares and retained profits that can absorb losses without forcing the bank to sell assets or seek emergency help; items that can’t reliably cover losses are excluded. Think of it as the bank’s shock-absorbing cushion: a higher common equity tier 1 (CET1) level and ratio means regulators and investors view the bank as better able to survive bad loans or market shocks, so it signals lower risk to shareholders and creditors.
nonaccrual status financial
"a large credit relationship that was previously on nonaccrual status"
Nonaccrual status is when a lender stops recording interest income on a loan because payments are late or the borrower’s ability to pay is in serious doubt. For investors this is a red flag: it signals deteriorating loan quality, can reduce reported earnings and may require the lender to set aside more reserves, much like marking a damaged product off the books until its value is clear.
allowance for credit losses financial
"The allowance for credit losses to total loans at September 30, 2026"
Allowance for credit losses is a reserve set aside by a financial institution to cover potential losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution prepare for loans that might turn sour. For investors, it signals how cautious the institution is about the quality of its loans and potential risks to its financial health.

GAAP Reconciliation and Management Explanation of Non-GAAP Financial Measures

This press release contains the non-GAAP financial measures of tangible common stockholders’ equity, total tangible assets, tangible book value per share and tangible common equity to total tangible assets, each of which excludes goodwill associated with our acquisition of Metro Bancshares, Inc. in January 2015. We recognized an $8.6 million loss on sale of available-for-sale debt securities in noninterest income during the second quarter of 2025 due to restructuring the portfolio. We reversed a $2.3 million legal reserve from interest expense during the second quarter of 2025. We recognized a $7.8 million loss on sale of available-for-sale debt securities in non-interest income during the third quarter of 2025 due to continued restructuring of the portfolio. These adjustments to our results are to reflect items unusual, or infrequent, in nature and are not considered to be part of our non-interest expense, run rate. Each of adjusted net income, adjusted net income available to common stockholders, adjusted diluted earnings per share, adjusted net interest income, adjusted return on average assets, adjusted return on average common stockholders’ equity, and adjusted efficiency ratio excludes the impact of this, net of tax, and are all considered non-GAAP financial measures. This press release also contains the non-GAAP financial measures of adjusted net income, adjusted net income available to common stockholders, adjusted diluted earnings per share, adjusted return on average assets, adjusted return on average common stockholders’ equity, adjusted efficiency ratio, adjusted net interest income, adjusted noninterest income, and adjusted noninterest expense.

We believe these non-GAAP financial measures provide useful information to management and investors that is supplementary to our financial condition, results of operations and cash flows computed in accordance with GAAP; however, we acknowledge that these non-GAAP financial measures have limitations. As such, you should not view these disclosures as a substitute for results determined in accordance with GAAP, and they are not necessarily comparable to non-GAAP financial measures that other companies, including those in our industry, use. The following reconciliation table provides a more detailed analysis of the non-GAAP financial measures as of and for the comparative periods presented in this press release. Dollars are in thousands, except per share data.
