derivativesfinancial
Derivatives are financial contracts whose value depends on the price or performance of another asset, such as a stock, bond, commodity, currency or interest rate. Investors use them to hedge against risk, to speculate on future price moves, or to gain exposure without owning the asset — like buying insurance or placing a leveraged bet — so they can both protect portfolios and magnify gains or losses, affecting risk and market liquidity.
digital assetfinancial
A digital asset is a representation of value or rights that exists only in electronic form—like digital versions of cash, stocks, or collectibles kept in a virtual wallet. They are transferred and recorded using computer systems that make copying or tampering difficult, and can include currencies, tokenized shares, or unique digital items. Investors care because digital assets can offer new ways to diversify, trade and raise capital, but they also bring different risks around price swings, custody and regulation.
options tradingfinancial
Options trading is buying and selling contracts that give the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a stock at a set price before a specific date. For investors it matters because options let you amplify potential gains, protect existing holdings, or bet on price moves with less cash than buying the stock outright — like renting a reservation instead of buying the whole hotel room — but they can also expire worthless and cause losses.
