Key Terms

10dlc technical
10DLC (10-digit long code) is a standard type of phone number used by businesses to send text messages to customers through mobile carriers. For investors it matters because carriers require registration, set rules and fees, and monitor message content and volume—similar to needing a business return address and permit for mass mail; this affects a company’s ability to reach customers reliably, its operating costs, and potential regulatory or reputation risks.
10-digit long code technical
A 10-digit long code is a standard 10-digit phone number used to send and receive text messages and automated alerts, typically in regions that use 10-digit dialing. For investors it matters because companies use these numbers for shareholder notifications, trade alerts, two-factor authentication and regulatory communications—like a dedicated mailbox for receiving timely, authenticated messages; deliverability, compliance, and trustworthiness of that ‘mailbox’ can affect how reliably you get important updates.
cpaas technical
A Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) is a cloud-based toolkit that lets companies add voice calls, text messages, video and chat features to their apps or websites without building the underlying phone or messaging systems. Think of it as a plug-and-play communications engine developers drop into software. Investors watch CPaaS because it often produces usage-based and recurring revenue, can scale quickly with customer communication needs, and benefits from trends like remote work and digital customer service.
api technical
An API, or Application Programming Interface, is a set of rules that allows different software programs to communicate and work together smoothly, much like a waiter translating your order into the kitchen and then bringing your meal back. For investors, APIs are important because they enable real-time access to financial data, trading systems, and other digital services, making it easier to make informed decisions quickly and efficiently.
caller id technical
Caller ID is a phone feature that displays the incoming caller’s number and, when available, a registered name so you can see who is calling before you answer. For investors and companies, Caller ID helps verify the source of investor-relations calls, conference‑call invitations or regulatory inquiries and reduces the risk of falling for phone scams or spoofed messages—think of it as a caller’s name tag that aids trust and security in remote communications.
digital transformation technical
Digital transformation is the process of using digital technologies to fundamentally change how organizations operate, deliver value, and connect with customers. It often involves updating systems, automating tasks, and improving digital tools to increase efficiency and stay competitive. For investors, it signifies a company's ability to adapt to technological advances, which can impact its growth prospects and long-term success.
protocols technical
Protocols are documented sets of steps and rules that guide how a specific process is carried out—such as a clinical trial, regulatory submission, manufacturing method, or security routine. Think of them as a recipe or playbook that ensures actions are done consistently, safely and in compliance with laws. Investors pay attention because well-defined protocols reduce operational and regulatory risk, improve predictability of outcomes, and can affect timelines, costs and the likelihood of approvals or successful execution.

Twilio’s direct connections provide faster throughput, better reliability, and a more secure and compliant messaging ecosystem.

Twilio’s continued commitment to delivering a trusted communications ecosystem now enables customers to onboard communications workloads in days, not weeks.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Twilio (NYSE: TWLO), the customer engagement platform that drives real-time, personalized experiences for today’s leading brands, announced it is now the only Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) provider to offer direct connections across all major carriers in the United States and Canada.

Building on existing direct Toll-Free messaging connectivity across all major U.S. carriers, Twilio has added direct 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) connections across AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon in the United States, and Bell & Virgin, Rogers, and Telus in Canada. Twilio also recently added RCS general availability in Canada, adding to existing RCS general availability in the United States.

Twilio’s direct connections with carriers streamlines the onboarding process for new customers. Additional advantages include improved reliability and deliverability, increased speed with higher throughput, and a more simplified, trusted, and compliant communications ecosystem.

“Twilio already carries significant messaging volume in North America,” said Kathryn Murphy, Senior Vice President of Product, Communications Platform, at Twilio. “The expansion of direct 10DLC connections in the United States and Canada across all major carriers further solidifies our mission to provide trusted, direct connections for our customers.”

With Twilio’s direct 10DLC connections, customers can expect:

  • A trusted foundation: Infrastructure that empowers businesses to connect confidently at scale, with secure, compliant, reliable, and real-time interactions.
  • Faster onboarding: Register 10DLC numbers in days instead of weeks when relying on third-party aggregators.
  • Intelligent optimization and resiliency: Twilio’s Traffic Optimization Engine works across networks to intelligently manage traffic, ensuring low latency and high deliverability.
  • Reliability at scale: Twilio handled over 2.5 trillion interactions in 2025, with 99.999% API availability.

“Our research shows that nearly three of four (74.1%) respondents will ignore a call or text if the caller ID displays an unknown or blocked number,” said Raul Castanon, Senior Research Analyst at 451 Research from S&P Global Energy Horizons. “This shift in consumer behavior could derail organizations' digital transformation initiatives, which increasingly rely on digital communications to enable interactive, conversational experiences. Foundational protocols like 10DLC are now the price of admission for outbound enterprise communications, and direct connections come with the added benefits of speed, reliability and compliance.”
