6 terms
broadband technical
"Kinetic today announced a major broadband expansion in North Carolina"
Broadband is high-speed internet service that carries large amounts of data quickly over wires, fiber, or wireless networks — think of it as a multi-lane highway for online traffic. For investors it matters because broadband availability, speed, and capacity drive consumer and business demand, influence revenue potential and pricing power, and require significant infrastructure investment and regulatory decisions that affect a provider’s growth and profitability.
multi-gig technical
"delivering multi-gig fiber internet to an additional 7,600 homes"
A "multi-gig" refers to a project or task that generates a large amount of income, often in the millions of dollars. For investors, it signals significant potential value or opportunity, similar to a large, lucrative deal or contract that can greatly impact overall earnings or company growth. Recognizing multi-gigs helps investors gauge the scale and importance of a business or industry opportunity.
fiber technical
"delivering multi-gig fiber internet to an additional 7,600 homes"
Fibers are the indigestible parts of plant-based foods—like cellulose, pectin and similar substances—that travel through the digestive system largely unchanged and support bowel regularity and other health effects. For investors, fiber matters because its presence determines nutrition labels, allowed health claims, product positioning and consumer demand, so it can affect a food company’s sales, pricing power and regulatory or legal risk; think of it as a product’s health badge.
wi-fi 7 technical
"Wi-Fi 7 – The newest, most advanced secure connection with equipment from manufacturers"
Wi‑Fi 7 is the next generation of wireless networking technology that delivers much faster speeds, lower delay, and the ability to handle many more devices at once—think of it as a wider, smoother highway for internet traffic. It matters to investors because upgrades to phones, routers, smart-home gear, and business networks can drive hardware sales, service subscriptions, and demand for data-center or semiconductor capacity, affecting companies across the tech supply chain.
voip technical
"Signal for reliable VoIP, households and businesses receive a unified"
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that carries phone calls and other voice services over the internet instead of traditional telephone lines. Like switching from a landline to a streaming service for music, it can cut costs, add features and scale quickly, which matters to investors because it affects a company’s expenses, recurring revenue potential, growth prospects and exposure to network reliability or cybersecurity risks.
gigabit technical
"offers up to 1 Gig speeds with integrated security and managed Wi-Fi"
A gigabit is a measure of digital data equal to one billion bits and is commonly used to describe network speed or capacity (for example, a “gigabit” internet connection). For investors, gigabit figures matter because they signal how fast data can move and how much traffic a network or product can handle—similar to saying how wide a highway or how big a water pipe is—affecting customer appeal, infrastructure needs, and potential revenue.

Rapid Q4 2025 expansion benefits communities, customers by enabling remote work, gaming, streaming, agriculture and telehealth

CONCORD, N.C., April 13, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kinetic today announced a major broadband expansion in North Carolina, delivering multi-gig fiber internet to an additional 7,600 homes across 40 communities in the fourth quarter of 2025. The expansion highlights Kinetic’s commitment to delivering better technology, at a better value, for customers.

North Carolina is the third fastest-growing state in the U.S., and experts forecast a 2.6% increase in GDP in 2026. Kinetic’s fiber network, with 99.95% reliability, can help support this growth and enhance work, school, streaming, and everyday life.

“Kinetic has great friendly staff and awesome service. My representative is always available with any questions I may have. Love my Kinetic service,” said Pamela Osborne, a Kinetic customer in Matthews.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, Kinetic added fiber locations in Albemarle, Broadway, Concord, Granite Quarry, Hemby Bridge, Indian Trail, Kannapolis, Lexington, Morven, Pine Bluff, Sanford, Tryon, Wingate, and more. A portion of these locations were supported by funds awarded to the State of North Carolina by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

To date, more than 176,000 homes and businesses across the Tar Heel State have access to Kinetic’s high-speed, next-generation connectivity.

Research shows that fiber-connected communities experience 213% higher business growth, 10% higher self-employment and a 14-17% increase in home values. Fiber is also significantly more sustainable and uses up to 95% less energy per gigabit. It requires less maintenance over time, which reduces environmental impacts and community disruptions.

“Fiber is the foundation of a more productive digital future, and our investment in North Carolina gives residents and businesses the fast, reliable connectivity their daily routines depend on,” said Stacy Hale, Kinetic’s state operations president. “We’re focused on helping our customers make the most of their time online, and that starts with a connection they can count on.”

Kinetic fiber customers can benefit from seamless 4K+ streaming across multiple devices with no data caps and no usage charges. Multi-gigabit connections support remote work, online learning and low-latency gaming, and, through partnerships with YouTube TV, AT&T for cellular bundles, and Signal for reliable VoIP, households and businesses receive a unified high-performance connectivity experience.

More North Carolina residents and businesses now have access to:

  • Wi-Fi 7 – The newest, most advanced secure connection with equipment from manufacturers like eero, an Amazon company. Wi-Fi 7 delivers faster speeds and lower latency and supports up to 200+ connected devices at the same time, creating a better internet experience with wall-to-wall coverage and less tech stress.
  • Whole-Home Wi-Fi Set-Up – Professional new fiber installs coupled with the Kinetic Promise™, which is a pledge that technicians will not leave the home until Wi-Fi works in every area and on every device where needed.
  • Business Ready Internet – A unified fiber connectivity service for small businesses that offers up to 1 Gig speeds with integrated security and managed Wi-Fi to keep daily operations efficient and secure.

Kinetic, which was named CNET’s Best Rural Fiber Internet Provider in 2026, will continue expanding its future-proof fiber network in NC in 2026. With 11.2 million fiber strand miles and 1.9 million homes passed to date across its 18-state footprint, Kinetic’s network is expected to reach 3.5 million homes and businesses by 2029.

“Kinetic is investing today to expand multi-gig capability and stay ready for what’s next,” added Hale. “We remain committed to challenging the status quo for customers, understanding their specific needs, putting them first and helping them to live their best lives with fiber technology.”
