Vortex Energy Corp. (VTECF) has announced plans to conduct an Ambient Noise Tomography (ANT) survey at its Robinsons River Salt Project in Newfoundland. The survey aims to evaluate the project's potential for large-scale hydrogen storage within deep subsurface salt structures. In partnership with the University of Alberta and partially funded by Mitacs, this low-impact, passive seismic method will create 3D images of the Robinsons River salt dome's geometry and internal structure. The survey will focus on understanding the size, shape, and structural integrity of the East and West salt domes previously identified through gravity and seismic studies. This initiative represents the first phase of a broader hydrogen storage evaluation strategy, with data to be integrated with existing datasets to create a unified interpretation and drill targeting model.
Vortex Energy Corp.

Vortex Energy Corp.
Positive
  • Partnership with University of Alberta and funding support from Mitacs national innovation organization
  • Cost-effective and environmentally friendly survey method for deep target imaging
  • Survey will complement existing gravity, magnetics, and legacy seismic data for comprehensive analysis
Negative
  • Results from the survey are not yet available
  • Further drilling and additional studies will be required before confirming storage viability

Vortex Energy Plans Geophysical Survey at Robinsons River Salt Project to Assess Hydrogen Storage Potential

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vortex Energy Corp. (CSE: VRTX) (OTC: VTECF) (FSE: AA3) (“Vortex” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce plans for a detailed geophysical survey at its flagship Robinsons River Salt Project (the “Project”) in Newfoundland. This marks the start of summer exploration activities that are focused on evaluating the project’s suitability for large-scale hydrogen storage within deep subsurface salt structures.

The Ambient Noise Tomography (“ANT”) survey, which is a low-impact, passive seismic method, is expected to image the geometry and internal structure of the Robinsons River salt dome in three dimensions. The survey is being conducted in partnership with the University of Alberta and is funded in part through research support provided by Mitacs, a national innovation organization that fosters collaboration between academia and industry.

“This survey is designed to help us better understand the size, shape, and structural integrity of the East and West salt domes identified in prior gravity and seismic studies,” stated Paul Sparkes, CEO of Vortex Energy. “ANT offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to image deep targets, helping us refine our cavern development strategy.”

This work represents the first phase of exploration in a broader hydrogen storage evaluation strategy of the Project. The data collected from the ANT survey is expected to complement and be integrated with other datasets, including gravity, magnetics, and legacy active seismic data, to create a unified interpretation and drill targeting model. The Company intends to initiate further drilling based on these results.
