Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Submissions are now open for Advanced City, Advanced Food, Advanced Microbiome, and Advanced Psychology

HOBOKEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Wiley (NYSE: WLY), a global leader in authoritative content and research intelligence, today announced the launch of four additional new journals in its prestigious Advanced Portfolio, one of the world’s top-tier research journal series. Advanced City, Advanced Food, Advanced Microbiome, and Advanced Psychology have each now begun accepting submissions.

The Advanced Portfolio is Wiley’s premier collection of impactful, multidisciplinary journals, spanning titles across life, health, physical, and social science disciplines. Anchored by flagship interdisciplinary journal Advanced Science and the world-renowned Advanced Materials, the portfolio’s distinctive editorial approach—built on close collaboration between authors and editors—has earned the trust of the scientific community for more than three decades.

These four new journals continue the rapid expansion of the portfolio, bringing the number of new titles launched this year to 10 and increasing the collection to a total of 36 journals. The expansion demonstrates Wiley’s commitment to accelerate science that addresses humanity's most pressing challenges across a wide range of disciplines.

“In February, Wiley pledged to expand the Advanced Portfolio significantly by adding eight new journals by the end of the year, and we have not only kept that promise but surpassed it,” said Allyn Molina, group vice president of publishing development at Wiley. “We continue to build toward our goals of launching premium options across every field of science and providing researchers with prestigious yet accessible venues for their breakthrough work.”

The four new journals launching this month reflect the increasing diversity of the Advanced Portfolio.

Advanced City
Advanced City is an open access, broad-scope journal that publishes system-level research on cities as integrated, engineered, and data-enabled systems, connecting infrastructure, mobility, energy, and digital systems with the governance and resilience questions shaping urban transformation.

The editor-in-chief of Advanced City is Jiaqi Li, who received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University. Her research background spans heterogeneous catalysis, functional materials, and sustainable chemical processes.

Advanced Food
Advanced Food is an open access, interdisciplinary journal that publishes research spanning food science, nutrition, biotechnology, engineering, and sustainability to advance food science that transforms how the world eats, including healthier populations, resilient food systems, and innovation across the full spectrum of food and nutrition.

Advanced Food is led by Editor-in-Chief Lionel Zhu. Zhu obtained his PhD in Biosystems and Food Engineering from University College Dublin. He brings interdisciplinary expertise in food science, biomanufacturing, and novel food technologies, together with editorial experience across Wiley’s food science journals.

Advanced Microbiome
Advanced Microbiome is an open access, broad-scope journal dedicated to publishing microbiome research across hosts and habitats, from mechanism to application, advancing the science of human, animal, and environmental health.

Editor-in-Chief Paulina Strzyz leads Advanced Microbiome. Strzyz obtained her PhD from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden. She then followed her passion for cell biology and joined editorial teams at Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology and Cell Press before joining Wiley.

Advanced Psychology
Advanced Psychology is an open access, interdisciplinary journal that publishes research across the full range of psychological science, from cognition and development to the clinical, social, and organizational study of how people think and behave, connecting minds across the field.

The editor-in-chief of Advanced Psychology is Seth Levine, who earned his Ph.D. in cognitive and brain sciences at the University of Trento in Italy, combining psychophysics, machine learning, and functional neuroimaging to investigate perceptual decision making. He conducted post-doctoral research on mental representations of affect at several leading German institutions.

Key Terms

microbiome medical
Microbiome is the community of tiny living organisms—bacteria, viruses, fungi and their genes—that live in a particular place, like the gut, skin or soil; think of it as a neighborhood of microscopic life that affects how that environment works. Investors care because changes or products that target the microbiome can alter health outcomes, crop yields or consumer product performance, creating new markets, regulatory risks and potential shifts in revenue for companies.
heterogeneous catalysis technical
A form of catalysis in which the catalyst is in a different physical phase than the reactants, most commonly a solid catalyst that speeds up chemical reactions of gases or liquids at its surface without being consumed. Reactions proceed by adsorption of reactants onto active sites on the catalyst surface, bond-breaking and formation at those sites, and desorption of products; performance depends on surface area, active-site properties and mass transport. Unlike homogeneous catalysis (where catalyst and reactants share a phase), heterogeneous catalysts can be recovered and reused but can lose activity over time through fouling, sintering or poisoning of surface sites.
functional neuroimaging medical
Imaging techniques that map brain activity or functional processes rather than just anatomy, by measuring signals such as blood flow, oxygen use, metabolism, or electrical/magnetic activity. Common methods include functional MRI (which tracks changes in blood oxygen), PET and SPECT (which measure metabolic or tracer uptake), and EEG/MEG (which record electrical or magnetic fields from neuronal activity); each method differs in what it measures and in spatial and temporal resolution. Functional neuroimaging shows where and when brain processes occur but typically provides indirect measures of neuronal activity and has method-specific limitations and trade-offs.
