WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD) has announced its first European fully driverless commercial Robobus deployment in France's Drôme region, partnering with beti, Renault Group, and Macif. The service will launch on March 10, 2025, at the Rovaltain business park – Valence TGV station.

The L4-level autonomous service will operate several six-meter-long robobuses, each carrying eight passengers, on a 3.3 km route connecting the train station, long-term parking, catering hub, and 150 companies employing 3,000 people. The buses will operate at speeds up to 40km/h with dynamic obstacle avoidance capabilities.

The deployment includes an initial learning phase from March 10 to April 19, operating Monday to Friday, followed by a second operating phase starting in July. Beti Automated Mobility will manage operations using their 'hypervision' solution for enhanced safety and continuous system improvement.

The electric vehicle is designed for express delivery, urban distribution, and point-to-point logistics, offering cost-effective unmanned delivery solutions.

WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD) has been selected as the technology provider for a new autonomous driving pilot project in Switzerland, funded by the Canton of Zurich and Swiss national railway (SBB) and managed by Swiss Transit Lab. The project will initially deploy two autonomous cars during the test phase, expanding to four cars in Q2 2025, with plans for eight additional vehicles in 2026.

The service will operate in Switzerland's Furttal Region, where residents can book autonomous vehicles through an app provided by ioki. The project aims to address transportation options in suburban areas, complementing Switzerland's extensive train network, which serves as the primary connection between major cities.

The nine-passenger Robobus will be the first commercial autonomous bus shuttle at a European airport, operating between employee gates 101 and 130 starting Q1 2025.

The deployment follows WeRide's successful operations at Roland-Garros during the 2024 French Open, where Robobus provided shuttle services on a five-kilometer route. Prior to the Zurich implementation, WeRide's Robotaxi completed route mapping at the airport, showcasing potential for expanded applications in Switzerland.

The challenging Alpine environment at Zurich Airport has been successfully addressed by WeRide's technology, which has been tested across more than 30 cities in seven countries. The initial phase will include a safety driver, with plans to transition to remote monitoring operations.

Uber and WeRide have launched their autonomous mobility service in Abu Dhabi, marking the first time autonomous vehicles are available on the Uber platform outside the United States. The service represents the largest commercial robotaxi operation outside the U.S. and China.

The service will operate in key areas including Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, and routes to/from Zayed International Airport. Initially, safety operators will be present in each vehicle, with plans for fully driverless service in 2025.
