The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Rhea-AI Filing Summary

Citizens Financial Group (CFG) reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $636 million, up 29% year over year, and diluted earnings per share of $1.41, up 34%. Total revenue was $2.322 billion, up 10%, and net interest income was $1.675 billion, up 13%. Return on average tangible common equity was 15.1%, compared with 11.7% a year earlier. Tangible book value per common share was $35.78, down 6.6% from the prior quarter. Citizens attributed the decline to the negative impact of higher long-term rates on its investment securities and swap portfolios.

The board declared a quarterly common dividend of $0.52 per share, up $0.06, or 13%, from the prior quarter, payable November 13, 2026, to shareholders of record October 30, 2026. The board also increased common share repurchase program capacity to $1.95 billion, $1.3 billion above the $650 million of capacity remaining under the prior June 2025 authorization.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Return on average tangible common equity financial
"Return on average tangible common equity (non-GAAP)"
A profitability ratio that shows how much profit common shareholders earn from the bank’s tangible equity — the shareholder capital left after removing goodwill, intangible assets and preferred stock — averaged over a period. Investors use it like a yield on the company’s real, hard capital to judge how efficiently management turns those tangible resources into earnings and to compare returns across banks or over time.
Pre-provision profit financial
"Pre-provision profit (non-GAAP)"
Net interest margin, FTE financial
"Net interest margin on an FTE basis (non-GAAP)"
Allowance for credit losses financial
"Allowance for credit losses to loans and leases"
Allowance for credit losses is a reserve set aside by a financial institution to cover potential losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution prepare for loans that might turn sour. For investors, it signals how cautious the institution is about the quality of its loans and potential risks to its financial health.
Common equity tier 1 capital ratio financial
"Common equity tier 1 capital ratio"
A bank’s common equity tier 1 (CET1) capital ratio measures the size of its strongest loss-absorbing capital—mainly common shares and retained earnings—relative to the bank’s assets after adjusting those assets for how risky they are (riskier loans count more). Think of it as the safety cushion compared with the weight of risky business; investors use it to judge a bank’s ability to survive losses, meet rules, and sustain dividends or growth.

Non-GAAP Financial Measures
This document contains non-GAAP financial measures that we believe provide useful information to investors to understand our results of operations or financial condition. We caution investors not to place undue reliance on such non-GAAP financial measures, but to consider them with the most directly comparable GAAP financial measures. Non-GAAP financial measures have limitations as analytical tools and should not be considered in isolation or as a substitute for our results reported under GAAP. The following tables present reconciliations of our non-GAAP financial measures to the most directly comparable GAAP financial measures.
