How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Comparable Restaurant Sales financial
"Company comparable restaurant sales increased 9.1%"
Comparable restaurant sales measure how much revenue changed at locations that were open for a set prior period, excluding new or closed outlets, so it shows like-for-like sales performance. Investors use it as an 'apples-to-apples' gauge of customer demand, pricing power and operational health—rising comparable sales suggest stronger underlying business, while declines can signal weakening traffic or pricing issues even if overall revenue grows due to new openings.
Adjusted EBITDA financial
"Adjusted EBITDA, non-GAAP"
Adjusted EBITDA is a way companies measure how much money they make from their core operations, like running a business, by removing certain costs or income that aren’t part of regular business activities. It helps investors see how well a company is doing without distractions from unusual expenses or gains, making it easier to compare companies or track performance over time.
Free cash flow financial
"Free cash flow, non-GAAP"
Free cash flow is the amount of money a company has left over after paying all its expenses and investing in its business, like buying equipment or updating facilities. It shows how much cash is available to reward shareholders, pay down debt, or save for future growth. This helps investors understand if a company is financially healthy and able to grow.
special items financial
"Net income, excluding special items, non-GAAP"
Special items are unusual or infrequent gains or losses that a company reports separately from its regular operating profit, such as restructuring costs, asset write-downs, legal settlements, or one-time gains from selling a business. Investors pay attention because these items can make reported profits look better or worse than the company’s ongoing performance—like a homeowner’s one-off roof repair affecting a single month’s budget but not the household’s regular income and expenses.
FICA tip credit financial
"leverage of the FICA tip credit"
A FICA tip credit is a payroll tax benefit tied to employee tips: when tipped workers report their tips, employers can reduce the Social Security and Medicare taxes they owe by the portion of those taxes that apply to the reported tips. For investors, this lowers a business’s labor-related tax costs and can modestly improve margins in industries with many tipped staff, like restaurants, acting like a small rebate that reduces operating expenses.
Total revenues $1,475.6 million $126.4 million
Net income $113.3 million $13.8 million
Net income per diluted share $2.64 $0.47
Adjusted EBITDA, non-GAAP $209.1 million $36.7 million
Guidance

Fiscal 2027 total revenues: $6.23–$6.33 billion; net income per diluted share, excluding special items, non-GAAP: $13.30–$13.90.

First Quarter Fiscal 2027 Financial Highlights
“Chili’s delivered its 22nd consecutive quarter of same-store sales growth, up +10%, lapping a +21% from last year and a +14% from 2024 for a 3 year cumulative comp of +52%,” said Kevin Hochman, President and CEO of Brinker International. “The Chili’s flywheel of sustainable growth and market share gains keeps spinning, with industry leading value, world class marketing, and continued investments in operations that both attract new guests and keep regular guests coming back.”
In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, Company sales were $1,461.2 million compared to $1,335.4 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2026. Company comparable restaurant sales increased 9.1% in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, including 10.1% for Chili’s, as the brand drove positive traffic and continued outperformance against the casual dining industry. Our first quarter results reflect the continued success of our ongoing brand initiatives to improve the guest experience, further strengthened by the highly successful launch of our Big Crispy® chicken sandwich.
Net cash provided by operating activities was $169.1 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, compared to $120.8 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2026, driven primarily by an increase in operating income. Free cash flow, non-GAAP was $105.7 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, compared to $62.2 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2026. During the first quarter of fiscal 2027, the Company utilized operational cash flow to repurchase $125.0 million of the Company’s common stock and lowered its cost of capital by redeeming the outstanding $350.0 million 8.25% notes using funding from the revolving credit facility.

(2)Mix-Shift is calculated as the year-over-year percentage change in Company sales resulting from the change in menu items ordered by guests.

on franchisee revenues, where applicable. We believe presenting Franchise Comparable Restaurant Sales provides investors relevant information regarding total brand performance.
(4)Chili’s domestic Comparable Restaurant Sales percentages are derived from sales generated by Company-owned and franchise-operated Chili’s restaurants in the United States.
(5)System-wide Comparable Restaurant Sales are derived from sales generated by Chili’s and Maggiano’s Company-owned and franchise-operated restaurants.
Reconciliation of Net Income Excluding Special Items (in millions, except per share amounts)
Brinker believes excluding special items from its financial results provides investors with a clearer perspective of the Company’s ongoing operating performance and a more relevant comparison to prior period results.

Reconciliation of Free Cash Flow (in millions)
Brinker management uses Free cash flow, which is calculated as Net cash provided by operating activities less Payments for property and equipment, both reported under GAAP. The most directly comparable GAAP financial measure is Net cash provided by operating activities. Management believes that the free cash flow measure is important to investors and that investors benefit from having a measure that communicates how much cash flow is available for working capital needs, acquisitions, common stock repurchases, or other discretionary financing initiatives.

Restaurant operating margin is not a measurement determined in accordance with GAAP and should not be considered in isolation, or as an alternative to operating income as an indicator of financial performance. Restaurant operating margin is widely regarded in the restaurant industry as a useful metric by which to evaluate restaurant-level operating efficiency and performance of ongoing restaurant-level operations. This non-GAAP measure is not indicative of overall Company performance and profitability because this measure does not directly accrue benefit to the shareholders due to the nature of costs excluded.
We define Restaurant operating margin as Company sales less Food and beverage costs, Restaurant labor and Restaurant expenses. We believe this metric provides a more useful comparison between periods and enables investors to focus on the performance of restaurant-level operations by excluding revenues not related to Company-owned restaurants, corporate General and administrative expenses, Depreciation and amortization, and Other (gains) and charges. Restaurant operating margin as presented may not be comparable to other similarly titled measures of other companies in our industry.
Reconciliation of Adjusted EBITDA (in millions)
Adjusted EBITDA is not a measurement determined in accordance with GAAP and should not be considered in isolation, or as an alternative to net income as an indicator of financial performance. Brinker believes presenting Adjusted EBITDA provides a useful measure of our operating performance, excluding the impacts of financing costs, capital expenditures and special items. We define Adjusted EBITDA as Net income before Provision for income taxes, Other income, net, Interest expenses, Depreciation and amortization and Other (gains) and charges.
