How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

pre-provision net revenue financial
"increase in pre-provision net revenue"
Pre-provision net revenue is a bank’s income from core operations — interest earned minus interest paid plus fees and other operating income, after operating costs — measured before setting aside funds for potential loan losses. Investors use it to gauge how well a bank’s everyday business generates money independent of one-time loss reserves, like judging a store’s sales and operating profit before accounting for an expected number of returned items.
net interest margin financial
"Net interest margin decreased 3 basis points"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
provision for credit losses financial
"Provision for credit losses of $54.7 million"
Provision for credit losses is an amount set aside by a financial institution to cover potential future losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution manage risks and stay financially healthy. For investors, it signals how cautious a lender is about potential loan defaults and can impact the company's profitability and financial stability.
fair value option financial
"loans accounted for under the fair value option"
An accounting election that lets a company measure eligible financial assets and liabilities at their current market price, recording gains and losses in the income statement as those prices move. For investors it matters because choosing the fair value option makes reported profits and asset values respond immediately to market swings—like revaluing a house to today’s sale price—so it can increase earnings volatility while giving a more up‑to‑date view of value.
non-GAAP financial measures financial
"This press release presents non-GAAP financial measures"
Non-GAAP financial measures are numbers companies use to show their financial performance that exclude certain expenses or income. They help investors see how the company might perform without one-time costs or other unusual items, giving a different perspective from official reports. However, since they can be adjusted, they don’t always tell the full story and should be looked at alongside standard financial figures.

Live Oak Bancshares, Inc. Reports Third Quarter 2026 Results
WILMINGTON, NC, October 21, 2026 - Live Oak Bancshares, Inc. (NYSE: LOB) (“Live Oak” or “the Company”) today reported third quarter of 2026 net income attributable to common shareholders of $24.3 million, or $0.52 per diluted common share.
Live Oak’s performance in the quarter, compared to the second quarter of 2026 and third quarter of 2025, includes these notable items:
•Net interest income increased 6.1% and 15.2% compared to the second quarter of 2026 and third quarter of 2025, respectively. Net interest margin decreased 3 basis points during the third quarter of 2026 from 3.33% for the second quarter of 2026 and third quarter of 2025 to 3.30%
•Revenue (comprised of net interest income and noninterest income) increased 12.5% and 23.4% compared to the second quarter of 2026 and third quarter of 2025, respectively, and noninterest expense increased 1.4% and 2.6% compared to the second quarter of 2026 and third quarter of 2025, respectively, which generated a 25.6% and 52.9% increase in pre-provision net revenue1 compared to the second quarter of 2026 and third quarter of 2025, respectively
•Strong loan production of $2.1 billion accompanied by strong deposit growth of $920.6 million during the third quarter of 2026, compared to June 30, 2026, with total assets growing by 5.8% and 15.7% to $17.0 billion as of September 30, 2026, compared to June 30, 2026 and September 30, 2025, respectively
•Provision expense for credit losses of $54.7 million for the third quarter of 2026, increased $28.9 million and $32.5 million compared to the second quarter of 2026 and third quarter of 2025, respectively. The provision in the third quarter of 2026 was primarily driven by decisive action of $17.0 million related to the stressed distillery portfolio and reserves to support continued loan growth
“The fundamental story at Live Oak is that our franchise is getting stronger. Our operating leverage is improving, Live Oak Express continues to accelerate, and our deposit franchise is marching with gaining momentum,” said Live Oak Chairman and CEO James S. (Chip) Mahan III. “The earnings power of this business is expanding because revenue growth is meaningfully outpacing expenses, our loan origination engine is running strong, and our strategic initiatives are delivering results. This operating leverage momentum has aided in absorbing the elevated provision expense in the quarter, which primarily supported record loan growth while also our continued efforts to decisively act to address stress in our distillery-related portfolio. As I think about our operating earnings model, strong loan pipeline, and the possibilities that AI may unlock for both our customers and our employees, I am truly excited about Live Oak’s future.”

This press release presents non-GAAP financial measures. The adjustments to reconcile from the non-GAAP financial measures to the applicable GAAP financial measure are included where applicable in financial results presented in accordance with GAAP. The Company considers these adjustments to be relevant to ongoing operating results. The Company believes that excluding the amounts associated with these adjustments to present the non-GAAP financial measures provides a meaningful base for period-to-period comparisons, which will assist regulators, investors, and analysts in analyzing the operating results or financial position of the Company. The non-GAAP financial measures are used by management to assess the performance of the Company’s business for presentations of Company performance to investors, and for other reasons as may be requested by investors and analysts. The Company further believes that presenting the non-GAAP financial measures will permit investors and analysts to assess the performance of the Company on the same basis as that applied by management. Non-GAAP financial measures have inherent limitations, are not required to be uniformly applied, and are not audited. Although non-GAAP financial measures are frequently used by shareholders to evaluate a company, they have limitations as an analytical tool and should not be considered in isolation or as a substitute for analysis of results reported under GAAP.
