Key Terms

patent, intellectual property, forward-looking statements
3 terms
patent regulatory
"alleging that the defendants knowingly violated AOB's patent rights incorporated in the BUBBA"
A patent is a government-granted right that gives an inventor exclusive control to make, use, sell or license a specific invention for a limited time, usually in exchange for publicly describing how it works. For investors it matters because a patent can act like a time-limited lock on a product or process — reducing competition, protecting future sales or licensing income, and often increasing a company’s value, while still being defeasible, time-bound and subject to legal challenge.
intellectual property regulatory
"Protecting our intellectual property is essential not only to our business, but to"
Intellectual property are legal rights that protect creations of the mind—such as inventions, brand names, designs, software, or secret formulas—giving the owner control over who can use, copy or sell them. For investors, IP is like owning a blueprint or recipe: it can generate steady income through exclusive sales or licensing, boost a company’s competitive edge and valuation, and also create costs or risks if rights must be defended or challenged in court.
forward-looking statements regulatory
"The statements contained in this release that are not historical are forward-looking statements"
Forward-looking statements are predictions or plans that companies share about what they expect to happen in the future, like estimating sales or profits. They matter because they help investors understand a company's outlook, but since they are based on guesses and assumptions, they can sometimes be wrong.

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- American Outdoor Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select: AOUT), (AOB), an innovation company that provides product solutions for outdoor enthusiasts, today filed a complaint against Eposeidon Outdoor Adventure, Inc., and KastKing Fishing Tackle, Inc., alleging that the defendants knowingly violated AOB's patent rights incorporated in the  BUBBA® multi-flex interchangeable fillet knife products.  AOB filed the claim in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and seeks injunctive and monetary relief, as well as a finding of willful infringement by the defendants.

Brian Murphy, President and CEO of American Outdoor Brands, said, "We have made significant investments in engineering innovative, proprietary technologies that power our BUBBA® multi-flex interchangeable fillet knife line. These patented designs—including our Flex-Change® locking system—set our products apart through superior performance, durability, and precision on the water. We filed this action because we believe KastKing has deliberately copied these patented innovations and continued selling the infringing products despite repeated notice. Protecting our intellectual property is essential not only to our business, but to maintaining a fair and competitive marketplace for innovation. Over the past five years, we have grown our patent portfolio by more than 50%, and that portfolio now exceeds 400 active or pending patents. We remain committed to enforcing our patents and will take decisive action when necessary to protect the integrity of our brands and the trust our customers place in BUBBA® and all of our products."

AOB alleges that Eposeidon began selling its KastKing Interchangeable Fillet Knife Kits without the permission or authorization of the company. AOB developed innovative technology incorporated in its BUBBA® multi-flex interchangeable fillet knife products covered by U.S. Patent Nos. 12,285,879 and 12,441,011, with other patents pending. AOB is seeking an order that requires Eposeidon to withdraw infringing products from the market, compensates AOB for past infringement, finds Eposeidon's infringement to be willful, and awards AOB treble damages and its attorneys' fees from Eposeidon.
