Leading hospitality management company to lead operations at Virginia's first JW Marriott

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Comstock Holding Companies, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHCI) (“Comstock”), a leading real estate company specializing in the development, acquisition, operation, and management of mixed-use, transit-oriented properties and data center developments, today announced that, effective October 1, 2026, all management and operational responsibilities for the JW Marriott Reston Station hotel will transition from Crescent Hotels & Resorts ("Crescent") to Davidson Hospitality Group (“Davidson”).

Davidson is an award-winning, full-service hospitality company based in Atlanta, Georgia that manages over 60 hotels and resorts, more than 150 restaurants, bars, and lounges, and nearly 1.5 million square feet of meeting space across the United States. They are a preferred operator for multiple major hospitality brands and are widely recognized for providing premium services to a multitude of luxury properties across the globe. In 2026, seven Davidson-operated luxury hotels and resorts achieved coveted "Gold Badge" status in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hotels rankings.

"On behalf of Davidson, we are delighted to be embarking on a new relationship with such highly regarded partners to create value for this extraordinary luxury hotel," said Thom Geshay, Chief Executive Officer & President, Davidson Hospitality Group. "We look forward to leveraging our wealth of specialized experience to drive exceptional performance, invigorate team member engagement, and deliver standout guest experiences defined by mindfulness, balance, and renewal."

Opened in September 2025, the JW Marriott Reston Station hotel features 248 keys and over 40,000 square feet of premium event space, representing the largest luxury banquet and meeting space in Northern Virginia. The hotel is the foundation of a 28-story tower that also includes the JW Marriott Residences Reston Station, a collection of 90+ JW Marriott-branded luxury condominiums that occupy the top 14 floors. The property is setting the new standard for luxury in the D.C. region and serves as the centerpiece of The Row at Reston Station, Comstock’s newest development phase within its award-winning Reston Station neighborhood.

"We are thrilled to bring on a best-in-class hospitality management provider like Davidson to the JW Marriott Reston Station," said Tim Steffan, Chief Operating Officer of Comstock. "Their proven ability to deliver upscale luxury service, drive performance, and elevate guest experiences will perfectly complement the unique design and guest profile of the one-of-a-kind JW Marriott Reston Station."

This management transition represents a natural evolution for the JW Marriott Reston Station as it enters its next chapter of growth. Crescent was instrumental in executing a smooth launch and stabilizing daily operations, setting the stage for sustained property performance. Building upon this momentum, the transition to Davidson marks the strategic next step in maximizing the asset's long-term value and further enhancing the overall guest experience.

"As Crescent concludes its assignment as the operator tasked with opening Virginia’s first JW Marriott, I want to thank Michael George and the entire Crescent team for their tremendous contributions in positioning the JW Marriott Reston Station as the premier luxury hotel and conference facility in the region," said Christopher Clemente, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Comstock. "General Manager Dewayne Wright was charged with bringing the JW Marriott Reston Station to life one year ago. He and his team expertly handled the operations of the multi-faceted luxury property with poise and grace while earning the JW Marriott Reston Station the distinction of being a top-ranked luxury hotel in North America."

Reston Station is among the largest and most prominent mixed-use, transit-oriented developments in the Mid-Atlantic region, covering approximately 90 acres spanning the Dulles Toll Road and surrounding the Wiehle-Reston East Station on Metro’s Silver Line. It features multiple Trophy-Class office buildings that serve as the global, national, or regional headquarters for industry leaders, including Google, Booz Allen Hamilton, ICF International, Mobility Global-CARFAX, QTS, and numerous others. Reston Station also includes two BLVD-branded, 400+ unit luxury high-rise apartment towers and signature dining, retail, and wellness options that include a 55,000-square-foot VIDA Fitness and Spa, Founding Farmers, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, Starbucks, CVS, and more. Coming this fall will be Ebbitt House, the first-ever expansion of D.C.’s iconic Old Ebbitt Grill brand. For more information, please visit RestonStation.com.

Key Terms

mixed-use technical
A mixed-use property combines multiple types of space—such as homes, shops, offices, and sometimes hotels or restaurants—within the same building or development, like a small neighborhood stacked together under one roof. For investors it matters because mixing uses can diversify income streams, boost foot traffic and demand, and spread risk across different tenant types, but also brings added complexity from zoning rules, management needs, and varied lease terms.
transit-oriented technical
Transit-oriented describes real estate or development that is planned and built to be close to public transportation hubs like train stations or bus lines, so people can reach work and services with short walks rather than long car trips. For investors it signals potential for higher demand, steadier rental incomes and lower parking or infrastructure costs—think of it like a storefront next to a busy subway exit that gets more steady foot traffic than a remote location.
