Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

5 terms
reinsurance financial
"retained insurance premium net of reinsurance payments"
Reinsurance is when insurance companies buy insurance for themselves to protect against very big losses. It’s like a car owner getting extra coverage from another company so that if there's a serious accident, the financial hit isn’t all on one company. This helps insurance companies stay stable and able to pay out when disasters happen.
diluted net income per share financial
"Diluted net income per share"
Diluted net income per share measures a company's profit attributable to each share of stock after accounting for all possible additional shares that could be created from options, convertible debt or other rights. Investors use it to see how earnings would be spread if every claim on the company converted to stock — like checking how big each slice of pie would be if more people showed up — which reveals true per-share profitability and dilution risk.
treasury stock financial
"Treasury stock, at cost"
Treasury stock is shares that a company has bought back from the public and kept in its own control rather than retiring them. Think of it like a company holding its own tickets in a drawer: those shares no longer vote or receive dividends while held, but the company can reissue or retire them later; this reduces the number of shares available to outside investors and can boost per‑share earnings and influence ownership and stock price.
View in glossary
restricted cash financial
"Restricted cash, current"
Cash that a company holds but cannot use for day-to-day operations because it is set aside for a specific purpose—such as meeting loan covenants, serving as collateral, funding an escrow, or complying with regulations. Like money in a locked savings account earmarked for a bill, restricted cash reduces the cash available to run the business and pay dividends or debts, so investors treat it differently when assessing a company’s true short-term financial strength.
hud-code regulatory
"the first off-chassis HUD-Code home"
A HUD-code home is a manufactured dwelling built to federal construction and safety standards set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; think of it as a factory-built house certified to meet one nationwide rulebook rather than local building codes. For investors, HUD-code status affects financing, insurance, resale value and zoning — similar to how a car’s safety rating influences its marketability — so it helps gauge risk and market demand for properties or companies tied to manufactured housing.

PHOENIX, Oct. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cavco Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: CVCO) ("we," "our," the "Company" or "Cavco") today announced financial results for the second fiscal quarter ended September 26, 2026.

Quarterly Highlights

  • Net revenue was $656.4 million, up $100 million or 17.9% compared to $556.5 million in the second quarter of the prior year, primarily on home sales volume and average selling price per home growth.
  • Home sales volume was up 15.3% and capacity utilization remained consistent year over year at approximately 75%.
  • Factory-built housing Gross profit as a percentage of Net revenue was 21.1%, down from 22.9% in the same period in the prior year.
  • Financial services Gross profit as a percentage of Net revenue was 60.2%, compared to Gross profit of 55.6% in the same period in the prior year.
  • Selling, general and administrative expenses include a one-time $7 million benefit from a return of insurance premium which favorably impacts Net income per diluted share by $0.70.
  • Income before income taxes was $73 million, up $6 million, or 9.1% compared to $67 million in the same period in the prior year.
  • Net income per diluted share was $7.17, up 9%, compared to $6.55 in the prior year quarter.
  • Backlogs totaled $348 million at the end of the quarter representing 8-10 weeks of production, up $50 million sequentially from $298 million.
  • Stock repurchases were approximately $30 million in the quarter. At the end of the second quarter, $158 million remains available for repurchases under our previously announced Board authorizations.

Commenting on the quarter, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Boor said, "This is our second consecutive quarter of record revenue and unit volume. While orders were off the preceding quarter pace, they remained healthy and backlogs continued to grow. This positions us very well going into the seasonally slower winter months with the ability to adjust production depending on order trends. While materials inflation continued and is expected to remain a challenge going forward, during Q2, selling price increases were in excess of cost pressures, resulting in a small sequential Gross Margin improvement. Additionally, we began to see data center workforce housing orders and shipments during the quarter which are contributing to healthy backlogs."

He continued, "A highlight this quarter was showing Cavco’s Grande Arbor, the first off-chassis HUD-Code home, at HUD’s Innovative Housing Showcase in Washington DC. Increasing federal and state-level support through the ROAD to Housing Act and other reforms will be opening exciting opportunities for factory-built housing in the years ahead."

  • In the factory-built housing segment, Gross profit increased due to an increase in home sales volume and Net revenue per home sold, partially offset by higher input costs for both periods. • In the financial services segment, Gross profit increased primarily due to loan sales volume, higher retained insurance premium net of reinsurance premium and lower commissions on insurance policies written. Selling, general and administrative expenses increased in both periods primarily due to higher compensation on stronger results.
