CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Chamberlain University, the nation's largest school of nursing and a Covista institution, cut the ribbon today on its 25th campus nationwide, bringing a new source of nurses to Cincinnati as the first cohort of students prepares to begin classes Aug. 31. The institution marked the occasion with another first: awarding its inaugural Future Healthcare Hero BSN Scholarship, covering the full cost of a Cincinnati resident’s Chamberlain University nursing degree.

Chamberlain University President Amelia Manning is joined by Executive Campus Director Priya Shastri, future Chamberlain student Damenika Jacobs, Chamberlain alumna Rachell Dumas, Ohio state Rep. Karen Brownlee, House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn, Cincinnati Regional Chamber President and CEO Brendon Cull, Hamilton County Commissioner Denise Driehaus, and Tiffany Mattingly, Chief Engagement Officer & Vice President, Clinical Strategies at The Health Collaborative, to cut the ribbon on Chamberlain's Cincinnati campus, its 25th nationwide.

Chamberlain teamed up with Zachery Dereniowski, known to his over 40 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube as "MD Motivator", to surprise Damenika Jacobs with a full-ride scholarship to Chamberlain's new Cincinnati campus. The video also announced three additional Future Healthcare Hero BSN Scholarships, with applications open now to Cincinnati-area residents.

Expanding Access to Nursing Education

"Cincinnati has no shortage of amazing talent capable of becoming extraordinary nurses. What has been lacking is access," said Amelia Manning, President, Chamberlain University. "This scholarship and this campus are a direct response to that gap. Expanding access to nursing education is core to our mission at Chamberlain, and we intend to be a long-term partner in strengthening this region's healthcare workforce."

The campus arrives as the Cincinnati region faces a significant healthcare workforce shortage. Employers across the Cincinnati metro posted nearly 50,000 healthcare job openings last year, and there are six open healthcare jobs for every healthcare graduate in the region, according to the 2026 Covista Care Capacity Monitor.

When classes begin Aug. 31, the first cohort of Cincinnati students will train in a campus built for hands-on learning, including a high-tech SIMCARE CENTER™ where students practice clinical skills in simulated patient care settings before moving into clinical rotations with local partners.

Expanding Healthcare Workforce Pathways for Cincinnati

Chamberlain and Covista are also deepening their commitment to the region with a new three-year partnership with The Health Collaborative, backed by a $150,000 donation. The Health Collaborative unites partners across healthcare, government, and the community to improve health outcomes across Southwest Ohio. The partnership will bring year-long healthcare career exploration programs to local youth centers, giving Cincinnati middle and high school students hands-on experience with healthcare careers they may not have previously considered.

County Commissioner Denise Driehaus declared Aug. 20 as "Chamberlain University Day” in Hamilton County, presenting a proclamation in honor of the campus opening.
