4 terms
nonqualified stock option financial
"granted one employee a nonqualified stock option"
A nonqualified stock option (NQSO) is a company grant that gives an individual the right to buy shares at a set price but does not meet special tax rules for incentive stock options; when exercised the difference between the market price and the exercise price is treated as ordinary income for the recipient and as a tax-deductible expense for the company. It matters to investors because NQSOs affect an employee’s after-tax proceeds, the company’s reported expenses, and potential share dilution—think of it like a cash bonus that converts into stock but is taxed as regular pay when you take it.
allogeneic medical
"an allogeneic γδ T cell candidate"
Allogeneic describes a process or material involving different individuals of the same species, such as cells, tissues, or organs donated from one person to another. It is important to investors because products or treatments based on allogeneic sources can enable scalable, off-the-shelf solutions, potentially reducing costs and increasing accessibility in healthcare and biotech industries.
autologous medical
"an autologous genetically modified γδ T cell candidate"
Autologous describes a medical product or treatment made from a patient’s own cells or tissues rather than from a donor. For investors, autologous approaches matter because they can lower the risk of immune rejection and improve effectiveness, but they often require individualized manufacturing, complex logistics, and higher per-patient costs—factors that affect scalability, pricing, and regulatory hurdles in healthcare businesses.
γδ t cell medical
"developing γδ T cell and γδ T cell engager product candidates"
A γδ T cell is a specialized type of white blood cell that helps the immune system spot and respond to damaged, infected, or cancerous cells; unlike most T cells that use one kind of receptor, γδ T cells use a different receptor that lets them react quickly to a wider variety of threats. Investors care because these cells are a focus of experimental immunotherapies and diagnostics—like a versatile security team being turned into a product—so advances, trial results, or setbacks can materially affect biotech companies’ pipelines and valuations.
