Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Key Terms

pdufa, new drug application, sbp, ckd, +1 more
5 terms
pdufa regulatory
"Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) target date"
PDUFA is the Prescription Drug User Fee Act, the U.S. law under which drug companies pay fees that fund the FDA's review of new medicines. In company news the term usually appears as the PDUFA date, the target deadline by which the FDA aims to decide on a drug application; that date tells investors when to expect the approval or rejection decision for the product.
new drug application regulatory
"New Drug Application (NDA) for lorundrostat"
A new drug application is a formal request submitted to government regulators seeking approval to market a new medicine. It is like a detailed proposal that shows the drug has been tested for safety and effectiveness. For investors, receiving approval signals that the drug may soon become available for sale, potentially leading to revenue growth and impacting the company's value.
sbp medical
"office systolic blood pressure (SBP) target"
SBP stands for systolic blood pressure, the highest pressure in the arteries when the heart contracts and pumps blood. It is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and reported as the first number in a blood-pressure reading (for example, 120/80 mmHg where 120 is the SBP); it is interpreted together with diastolic blood pressure (DBP) because each reflects different phases of the cardiac cycle.
ckd medical
"consistent reductions across Stages 1-3 CKD"
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long-term condition where the kidneys gradually lose their ability to filter waste and fluids from the blood, like household filters that slowly clog and underperform over time. It matters to investors because CKD drives demand for drugs, medical devices, diagnostics and dialysis services, influences healthcare spending and reimbursement decisions, and creates regulatory or clinical-trial risks and market opportunities across the healthcare sector.
hyperkalemia medical
"including hyperkalemia"
An abnormally high level of potassium in the bloodstream that can disrupt the heart’s electrical signals and lead to palpitations, weakness, or life‑threatening irregular heartbeats. Investors care because hyperkalemia can drive demand for treatments or monitoring devices, create safety or regulatory risks for drugs and medical devices, affect clinical trial outcomes and labeling, and influence hospital and healthcare spending — much like a faulty circuit forcing urgent fixes.

RADNOR, Pa., Nov. 04, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mineralys Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: MLYS), a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing medicines to target hypertension and aldosterone-related adverse outcomes in comorbid conditions such as chronic kidney disease (CKD), obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other diseases driven by dysregulated aldosterone, today announced financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, and provided a corporate update.

“With approximately 20 million adults in the U.S. living with uncontrolled or resistant hypertension, despite treatment, there is a significant need for new treatment options. As we approach the December 22nd PDUFA target date for lorundrostat, our focus is on completing our launch preparations so that we are ready to reach patients quickly, pending approval,” said Jon Congleton, Chief Executive Officer of Mineralys. “We also continue to highlight the data from our clinical trials in meetings with physicians and through presentations at scientific congresses, including our recent updates at AHA-HTN and ASN Kidney Week, and our upcoming presentation at the AHA Scientific Sessions. We continue to receive positive feedback from providers, payers and people living with hypertension, and we look forward to the potential to bring lorundrostat to millions of patients in need.”

Recent Highlights and Upcoming Milestones

  • Lorundrostat New Drug Application (NDA) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues its review of the NDA for lorundrostat for the treatment of hypertension in combination with other antihypertensive drugs, with a Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) target date of December 22, 2026.
  • New Launch-HTN and Explore-OSA Data at the American Heart Association Hypertension Scientific Sessions (AHA-HTN) and American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Kidney Week 2026
    • A new analysis of the pivotal Phase 3 Launch-HTN trial showed that at Week 12, 46% of lorundrostat-treated participants (50 mg) achieved the AHA/ACC guideline-recommended office systolic blood pressure (SBP) target of <130 mmHg, with more than two-thirds achieving an SBP reduction of ≥10 mmHg. Participants had uncontrolled or treatment-resistant hypertension despite treatment with two to five antihypertensive therapies.
    • An additional new analysis from Launch-HTN demonstrated that lorundrostat achieved similar blood pressure reductions in participants with and without CKD, with consistent reductions across Stages 1-3 CKD. Lorundrostat also reduced albuminuria by 52% versus placebo, validating similar findings in a prior trial in participants with established CKD.
    • Final results from the Phase 2 Explore-OSA trial in overweight or obese adults with moderate-to-severe OSA and hypertension showed that lorundrostat 50 mg taken once daily in the evening reduced morning SBP by 11.1 mmHg at Week 4 (p<0.0001), compared with a 1.0 mmHg reduction with placebo (p=NS). No measurable change in apnea-hypopnea index was observed. Lorundrostat exhibited a favorable safety and tolerability profile, with no evidence of serious safety events, including hyperkalemia.
  • Transform-HTN Open-Label Extension Trial — New long-term efficacy and safety data from the ongoing Transform-HTN open-label extension trial will be featured in a late-breaking presentation at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2026, taking place November 6-9 in Chicago, IL.
  • Commercial Launch Readiness — The Company is advancing its commercial launch preparations and now has an expanded medical affairs team and sales force in place. The Company continues to engage with leading hypertension experts and payers. Brand marketing preparations are well underway, and the Company is finalizing a full-service patient support program designed to ease access for physicians, their office staff and patients.

Third Quarter 2026 Financial Highlights

Cash, cash equivalents and investments were $624.7 million as of September 30, 2026, compared to $656.6 million as of December 31, 2025. The Company believes that its current cash, cash equivalents and investments will be sufficient to fund planned operations, including the commercial launch of lorundrostat, into 2028.

Research and development (R&D) expenses for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, were $22.7 million, compared to $31.5 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2025. The decrease in R&D expenses was primarily due to $8.5 million of lower preclinical and clinical costs resulting from the conclusion of the lorundrostat pivotal program in the second quarter of 2025 and $0.3 million of decreased clinical supply, manufacturing, regulatory and other costs.

General and administrative (G&A) expenses were $37.4 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared to $9.7 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2025. The increase in G&A expenses was primarily due to investments to expand the Company’s operations in preparation for commercialization, including $15.4 million in higher professional fees and $11.4 million in increased personnel-related expenses resulting from headcount growth and increased compensation, as well as $0.9 million of increased other administrative expenses.

Total other income, net was $2.8 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared to $4.2 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2025. The decrease was primarily due to $3.2 million of increased interest expense related to the senior secured term loan entered into in June 2026, partially offset by $1.8 million of increased interest earned on investments as a result of higher average cash balances during the quarter ended September 30, 2026.

Net loss was $57.3 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared to $36.9 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2025. The increase was primarily attributable to the factors impacting the Company’s expenses described above.

About Lorundrostat

Lorundrostat is an investigational, proprietary, orally administered, highly selective aldosterone synthase inhibitor being developed for the treatment of uncontrolled hypertension (uHTN) or resistant hypertension (rHTN), as well as related comorbidities, such as chronic kidney disease, obstructive sleep apnea and other diseases driven by dysregulated aldosterone. Lorundrostat was designed to reduce aldosterone levels by inhibiting CYP11B2, the enzyme responsible for its production. Lorundrostat has 374-fold selectivity for aldosterone-synthase inhibition versus cortisol-synthase inhibition in vitro, has an observed half-life of 10-12 hours and demonstrated a 40-70% reduction in plasma aldosterone concentration in participants with hypertension.

Mineralys has completed six late-stage clinical trials of lorundrostat supporting its efficacy and safety profile while also validating aldosterone as an integral therapeutic target in uHTN and rHTN. The clinical program includes two pivotal, registrational trials, the Phase 3 Launch-HTN trial and Phase 2 Advance-HTN trial, which support the durable and clinically meaningful reductions in systolic blood pressure by lorundrostat. Lorundrostat was well tolerated in both trials with a favorable safety profile.
