MACOM's new SATCOM portfolio expands market reach with high-performance GaN technology across multiple frequency bands.
MACOM's announcement of new satellite communications products represents a strategic expansion of their RF and optical portfolio. The company is leveraging its GaN-on-SiC (Gallium Nitride on Silicon Carbide) technology to deliver high-power amplifiers across multiple frequency bands - C-Band, X-Band, Ku-Band, and Ka-Band - targeting both commercial SATCOM and defense markets.
The technical specifications are impressive, with their C-Band and X-Band power amplifiers achieving output powers of
Particularly noteworthy is MACOM's expansion into RF over Fiber (RFoF) technologies with their Th-Mod optical transmitter offering up to 70 GHz bandwidth and VPX modules providing 50 GHz bandwidth. These solutions address the critical need for high-bandwidth signal transmission in modern satellite communication systems.
The timing of this announcement ahead of the International Microwave Symposium indicates MACOM's readiness to showcase working demonstrations to potential customers. By offering these components in multiple package options (die, tab, and flange), MACOM is providing flexibility to system designers working on next-generation satellite communication platforms.
This portfolio expansion strengthens MACOM's position in the growing SATCOM sector where high-performance RF components are essential for enabling increased data throughput and reliability in satellite networks. The diversification across multiple frequency bands also helps MACOM address various market segments within the broader SATCOM industry.
LOWELL, Mass., June 16, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of semiconductor products, announced today new additions to its RF and optical portfolio, designed to meet the evolving needs of the SATCOM industry. These products include a high bandwidth Th-Mod optical transmitter, VPX RF over Fiber (RFoF) modules and high power amplifiers for Ka-, Ku-, X- and C-Band applications.
