Key Terms

hemodialysis medical
Hemodialysis is a medical treatment that cleans a person’s blood when their kidneys can no longer do the job, by routing blood through a machine that filters out waste, excess fluid and adjusts salt levels—think of it as an external, mechanical kidney. It matters to investors because it drives demand for specialized machines, replacement filters, clinics, trained staff and related drugs, and is sensitive to reimbursement rules, treatment volumes and advances that can change costs or market share.
bicarbonate cartridge medical
A bicarbonate cartridge is a sealed, replaceable container that holds a ready-to-use bicarbonate solution or buffering material used by medical devices such as dialysis machines and point-of-care analyzers to keep blood and fluids at safe pH levels. For investors, it matters because these cartridges are recurring consumables tied to device use, so their regulatory approval, manufacturing reliability, and supply chain stability can directly affect device sales, service revenue, and ongoing customer relationships.
acetic acid-based medical
Products, formulations, or manufacturing processes described as "acetic acid-based" use acetic acid (the main acid in vinegar) as their primary active ingredient, solvent, or chemical reactant. Investors care because this designation affects safety rules, raw‑material sourcing, production costs, regulatory approvals, and market positioning—similar to how calling a food "salt‑based" signals a key ingredient that determines taste, handling and supply risks.
