ipo financial
An initial public offering (IPO) is the process by which a private company sells its shares to the public for the first time, making its ownership available on the stock market. This allows the company to raise money from a wide range of investors to fund growth or other goals. For investors, an IPO offers a chance to buy into a company early in its public journey, potentially benefiting if the company grows in value.
russell 3000 financial
A broad stock-market index made up of the roughly 3,000 largest publicly traded U.S. companies, ranked by their total market value. It serves as a wide “basket” of American stocks that reflects the overall performance of the U.S. equity market, so investors use it as a benchmark or to gain broad exposure through index funds and ETFs—similar to watching an economy-sized shopping cart to judge how an entire store is doing.
russell microcap index financial
A broad market index that tracks the performance of the smallest publicly traded U.S. companies by market value, the Russell Microcap Index measures how tiny, often early-stage or niche firms are doing overall. Investors use it like a thermometer: it shows the health and trends of the micro-cap segment, helps compare fund performance, and guides decisions about risk, diversification and potential for high growth or volatility.
exchange traded funds financial
An exchange traded fund (ETF) is a pool of investments—such as stocks, bonds, or commodities—packaged together and listed on a stock exchange so it can be bought or sold like a single share. Think of it as a ready-made basket of assets that gives investors broad exposure, usually at lower cost and with easier trading than buying each holding individually, which helps manage risk and simplify portfolio building.
market-cap financial
Market-cap is the total market value of a company’s outstanding shares, calculated by multiplying the current share price by the number of shares people own. It gives investors a quick sense of a company’s size and risk—like a price tag for the whole business—and helps compare firms, guide expectations about growth and volatility, and decide where a stock fits in a portfolio.
