Recent Company History

Over the past five earnings announcements, Steve Madden has consistently reported revenue growth, including Q3 2025 revenue of $667.9M and 2024 revenue of $2.28B, while profitability and margins have faced tariff-related pressure. The Kurt Geiger acquisition has boosted direct-to-consumer growth and leverage, and a regular $0.21 dividend has been maintained. Analysis

This announcement highlights strong Q1 2026 revenue growth to $653.1M, significant gross margin expansion, and fresh fiscal 2026 EPS guidance of $2.55–$2.65 with revenue up 10%–12%. It also underscores rapid direct-to-consumer growth and ongoing integration of Kurt Geiger. At the same time, adjusted profitability declined year-on-year and net debt stood at $209.3M. Investors may watch future quarters for margin sustainability, expense discipline, and execution against the new guidance.

Key Terms

non-gaap, adjusted, diluted earnings per share, net debt
4 terms
non-gaap financial
"Amounts referred to as “Adjusted” are non-GAAP measures that exclude the items..."
Non-GAAP refers to financial measures that companies use to show their earnings or performance without including certain expenses or income that are often added back to give a different picture. It matters because it can make a company's results look better or more favorable, but it may also hide important costs, so investors need to look at both GAAP (official rules) and non-GAAP numbers to get a full understanding.
adjusted financial
"Adjusted gross profit as a percentage of revenue was 46.3%, compared to 40.9%..."
Adjusted means a financial number that has been altered to remove items considered unusual, one-time, or driven by accounting rules so the figure better reflects ongoing business performance. Investors care because adjusted figures can make it easier to compare results across periods and companies—like wiping a smudge off a window to see the view more clearly—but the adjustments vary, so they should be checked to know what was removed.
diluted earnings per share financial
"The Company expects fiscal 2026 diluted EPS will be in the range of $2.55 to $2.65."
Diluted earnings per share is a measure of a company's profit allocated to each share of stock, taking into account all possible shares that could be created through stock options, convertible bonds, or other securities. It shows the lowest possible earnings per share if all these potential shares were issued, helping investors understand the worst-case scenario for their ownership. This figure matters because it provides a more conservative view of a company's profitability per share.
net debt financial
"total debt outstanding was $286.5 million, and cash...$77.2 million, for net debt of $209.3 million."
Net debt is the total amount a company owes after subtracting the cash and assets it has that can be used to pay off that debt. It shows how much debt is truly a burden, helping investors understand if a company is financially healthy or heavily borrowed. Think of it like calculating how much money you owe after using your savings to pay part of it.
