Sentiment and the balance of points
Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

A single credit review can involve 20 to 30 deal documents spanning more than 50 document types. Credit Assist uses an orchestration layer to coordinate specialized AI agents to process, extract, analyze and organize the information and develop multiple sections with a cited narrative in parallel, with each section undergoing its own process of analysis, review and refinement. Instead of beginning with a blank page, credit professionals receive a cited draft they can question, verify and refine.
“Credit Assist is a great example of how we're simplifying and optimizing the way we work,” said Jill Gateman, Head of Commercial Banking, TD Bank
From AI research to a practical banking solution
TD’s Analytics, Intelligence & AI team led the end-to-end development and delivery of Credit Assist, working with commercial credit professionals and experts across technology, risk, architecture, governance and controls. Layer 6, TD’s AI research and development center, developed the underlying AI capabilities. Together, the teams translated advanced AI research and commercial underwriting expertise into a practical capability built around how credit professionals work.
Credit Assist was tested using 220 curated deals, with input from more than 70 domain experts. Credit professionals evaluated the AI-generated analysis against TD standards and helped refine the capability through each iteration. Across the segments evaluated,
“Credit Assist shows what is possible when advanced AI is developed alongside the people who understand the business problem best,” said Sumee Seetharaman, Head of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Practice & Center of Excellence, Layer 6 at TD. “Combining AI research with deep commercial credit expertise helped us build the technology around the realities of the work.”
Building a foundation for future AI innovation
Credit Assist reflects TD’s broader approach to AI: apply the technology to meaningful business problems, build transparency into the experience and keep people accountable for decisions. Required controls and professional reviews remain in place, and credit professionals continue to be responsible for lending recommendations and final decisions.
Credit Assist also provides a foundation for broader AI-enabled transformation at TD. Its reusable AI agents, orchestration capabilities and governance practices can be adapted to address other business needs, helping TD accelerate future AI innovation. Over time, this approach can reduce repetitive work across more of the client lifecycle and give colleagues greater capacity to support informed decisions.
“The future of AI in banking is human-led and AI-enhanced,” said Ted Paris, Head of Analytics, Intelligence & AI, TD Bank
