Vishay Intertechnology (VSH) introduced four new series of surface-mount standard rectifiers in the low profile DFN6546A Power DFN package with wettable flanks.

The 5 A SE50N6x, 8 A SE80N6x, 10 A SE100N6x, and 12 A SE120N6x families support reverse voltages of 200 V, 400 V, and 600 V, and are offered in AEC‑Q101 qualified versions for automotive use. The DFN6546A package measures 6.5 mm x 4.6 mm with a typical height of 0.88 mm, enabling more efficient PCB use and AOI thanks to wettable flanks. Compared with SMPC (TO‑277A) devices of the same footprint, these rectifiers provide a 10 % lower profile, 20 % higher current ratings, and 82 % higher forward surge capability. Forward voltage drops are as low as 0.77 V, with operation from -55 °C to +175 °C. Samples and production quantities are available with eight-week lead times.

3 terms
aec-q101 regulatory
"offered in AEC-Q101 qualified versions"
AEC-Q101 is an industry qualification standard that tests discrete semiconductor parts (like diodes and transistors) to ensure they can survive harsh automotive conditions such as heat, vibration and electrical stress. For investors, a part certified to AEC-Q101 is like a car tested for extreme road and weather conditions—it signals lower supply and reliability risk for companies that design or use those components, which can affect production, costs and product credibility.
automatic optical inspection technical
"allow for automatic optical inspection (AOI)"
Automatic optical inspection is a machine-based process that uses cameras, lighting and software to scan manufactured items—commonly printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies—for visual defects like missing components, soldering faults or misalignment. It matters to investors because it influences product quality, manufacturing yield and cost efficiency: better inspection can lower returns and rework, speed production, and affect profitability in companies that make or assemble hardware.
msl moisture sensitivity level technical
"offer an MSL moisture sensitivity level of 1"
Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) is a classification for electronic components that indicates how long parts can be exposed to ambient air before moisture absorbed into their packaging risks damage during soldering and assembly. Investors care because higher sensitivity can increase manufacturing risk, lead times, scrap rates and costs—similar to how perishable food needs quicker refrigeration to avoid spoilage—so MSL affects supply reliability and profit margins.

Featuring Low 0.88 mm Profile and Wettable Flanks, 200 V, 400 V, and 600 V Devices Provide Improved Thermal Performance and Forward Surge Capability

MALVERN, Pa., Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today introduced four new series of surface-mount standard rectifiers that are the industry’s first such devices in the low profile DFN6546A package with wettable flanks. Providing space-saving solutions for power line polarity protection and rail to rail protection in commercial, industrial, and automotive applications, the 5 A SE50N6x, 8 A SE80N6x, 10 A SE100N6x, and 12 A SE120N6x are each available with reverse voltages of 200 V, 400 V, and 600 V, and are offered in AEC-Q101 qualified versions.

The latest package in Vishay’s new Power DFN family, the DFN6546A features a compact 6.5 mm by 4.6 mm footprint and an extremely low typical height of 0.88 mm, allowing the Vishay General Semiconductor rectifiers released today to make more efficient use of PCB space. At the same time, the devices’ advanced construction and die placement technology allow for a higher copper content and larger chip sizes, resulting in improved thermal performance, higher current ratings, and forward surge current capability. Compared to solutions in the SMPC (TO-277A) package with the same footprint, the SE50N6x, SE80N6x, SE100N6x, and SE120N6x deliver a 10 % lower profile, 20 % higher current ratings, and 82 % higher forward surge capability.

Featuring an oxide planar chip junction design, the rectifiers offer typical reverse leakage current less than 0.1 μA, while their low forward voltage drops down to 0.77 V reduces power losses to improve efficiency. The devices operate over a wide temperature range from -55 °C to +175 °C, and provide ESD capability in compliance with IEC 61000-4-2, air discharge mode. The wettable flanks of their DFN6546A package allow for automatic optical inspection (AOI), eliminating the need for an X-ray inspection. Ideal for automated placement, the rectifiers offer an MSL moisture sensitivity level of 1, per J-STD-020, LF maximum peak of 260 °C. The devices are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.

FAQ

AI-generated questions and answers. How Rhea-AI works. Not financial advice.

What current and voltage options do the new rectifier series offer?

The new families provide average forward currents of 5 A (SE50N6x), 8 A (SE80N6x), 10 A (SE100N6x), and 12 A (SE120N6x). Each series is available with maximum reverse voltages of 200 V, 400 V, and 600 V, giving designers multiple current and voltage combinations in the same DFN6546A package footprint.

How do these DFN6546A rectifiers compare with SMPC (TO‑277A) solutions?

Compared to rectifiers in the SMPC (TO‑277A) package with the same footprint, the SE50N6x, SE80N6x, SE100N6x, and SE120N6x devices provide a 10 % lower profile, 20 % higher current ratings, and 82 % higher forward surge current capability, while maintaining a compact 6.5 mm by 4.6 mm footprint.

What operating conditions and reliability features are specified?

The rectifiers operate from -55 °C to +175 °C, use an oxide planar junction design with typical reverse leakage current below 0.1 μA, and offer ESD capability compliant with IEC 61000-4-2 in air discharge mode. They have an MSL moisture sensitivity level of 1 per J-STD-020 with a lead-free maximum peak reflow temperature of 260 °C, and are described as RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.

Why are wettable flanks in the DFN6546A package important?

The DFN6546A package’s wettable flanks enable automatic optical inspection (AOI) of solder joints, which the company says eliminates the need for X-ray inspection. This supports high-volume automated manufacturing, especially in automotive and industrial applications where AOI is widely used.

What are the typical forward voltage characteristics of the devices?

Depending on series, the rectifiers exhibit typical forward voltage drops from 0.77 V to 0.84 V at their rated forward currents. For example, the 5 A SE50N6x parts specify 0.77 V at 5 A, while the 12 A SE120N6x parts specify 0.84 V at 12 A, which reduces conduction losses and can improve efficiency in power conversion designs.

When are samples and production quantities available, and what is the lead time?

Samples and production quantities of the SE50N6x, SE80N6x, SE100N6x, and SE120N6x rectifiers in the DFN6546A package are available now, with stated lead times of eight weeks for orders.
