What is Market Capitalization?
Market capitalization, commonly referred to as market cap, is the total market value of a publicly traded company's outstanding shares of stock. It is calculated by multiplying the company's share price by its total number of outstanding shares.
This key indicator provides a snapshot of a company's current financial standing, its comparative worth, its broader influence on the market and economy, also offering insights into its potential risks and rewards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q Which company is the largest by market cap right now?
NVDA (Nvidia Corp) leads this ranking at $5.30T, ahead of AAPL ($4.92T) and GOOGL ($4.25T). Market capitalization is the share price multiplied by shares outstanding, so these positions move with the market.
Q Why does a company with several share classes appear only once?
Because each share-class row already carries the capitalization of the whole company priced at that class, adding the classes together would count the same company twice. This ranking therefore chooses between them rather than summing: for companies sharing a name, the most heavily traded class is the one published and its siblings are suppressed, with the alphabetically first symbol breaking a tie. That is why a company you know by two tickers has a single row here. Rank numbers count the published rows, so the sequence runs unbroken and a rank is that company's position among the companies this board actually shows.
Q How many companies are worth more than $1 trillion?
14 companies on this ranking are above $1 trillion, counted after the one-row-per-company rule so a multi-class company is not counted twice. The figure moves with prices, so it is the count as of the values this page is showing.
Q Which companies does this ranking include?
Every US-listed company this board holds, with no size floor applied and every US venue its source carries admitted, over-the-counter listings included, ordered largest first, 100 to a page. That makes this the widest board in the cluster: the performance and dividend rankings admit only companies above $100 million on NYSE, Nasdaq and NYSE American. The values are the ones the board last carried rather than a live quote, and the freshness line above the table states the session behind them.
Q Can I see what this ranking looked like in a previous month?
Yes. Each closed calendar month is frozen as its own board, reachable from the archive list on this page, and those values do not change once written because the month they describe is over. A frozen board also shows how each company's rank moved against the previous month, and a company whose position shifted only because another company entered or left above it shows no change, because it did not move.
How to read this ranking
Rank orders companies by market capitalization alone, largest first, and Market Cap is the figure it ranks on: the share price in the Price column multiplied by the shares the company has outstanding. Two companies can therefore trade at very different prices and sit next to each other here, because the share count does as much work as the price.
Trend (7d) compares the latest close with the close seven trading days before it, so it describes the price rather than the ranking. A company can show a negative trend and still hold its position, since every position on the page moves with the same market. Country and Sector are the company's own attributes and are joined live rather than stored with the board, so a sector reassignment appears here as soon as the source records it.
A company that trades under more than one ticker appears once. Each share-class row already prices the whole company, so the classes are chosen between rather than added: the most heavily traded class is published and its siblings are left out. Looking for a specific ticker and not finding it usually means its sibling class is the one on the board.
Companies above $1 trillion on this ranking
These 14 companies carry a market capitalization above $1 trillion in the values this page is showing. The list follows the same one-row-per-company rule as the table, so a company with several share classes is named once.
