Key Terms

share repurchase program financial
A share repurchase program is when a company buys back its own shares from the marketplace. This reduces the total number of shares available, which can increase the value of each remaining share and signal confidence in the company's prospects. For investors, it often suggests that the company believes its stock is undervalued or that it has extra cash to return to shareholders.
rule 10b5-1 regulatory
Rule 10b5-1 is a regulation that allows company insiders to buy or sell their shares at predetermined times, even if they have access to non-public information. It acts like setting a schedule in advance for transactions, helping prevent accusations of unfair trading. This rule provides a way for insiders to plan trades transparently, giving investors confidence that these transactions are not based on hidden information.
cash flows from operations financial
Cash flows from operations is the amount of cash a company generates or uses from its core day-to-day business activities, such as selling goods or providing services, after accounting for receipts and payments tied to those operations. Investors care because it shows whether the company's main business actually produces real cash to pay bills, fund growth or return money to shareholders—think of it as the household paycheck versus one‑off gains or loans.
