SEALSQ (LAES) and BWT Alpine Formula One Team are expanding their quantum-security partnership to deploy hybrid quantum-classical simulation and post-quantum protection in Alpine’s engineering workflows.

The project incorporates technology from ColibriTD, a SEALSQ Quantum Fund portfolio company, to enhance efficiency and accuracy in simulations for CFD, thermal, structural and multiphysics problems. The collaboration is described as the first structured use of quantum-accelerated simulation in Formula One, combined with advanced post-quantum data protection. An initial milestone was reached in July 2026, when SEALSQ, ColibriTD and Alpine engineers met in Enstone to set the roadmap and priority evaluation areas for a proof of concept. SEALSQ’s $200 million Quantum Fund, launched in 2025, supports this work as part of building a fully integrated “Quantum Vertical Sovereign Stack.”

4 terms
hybrid quantum-classical simulation technical
"introduce hybrid quantum-classical simulation capabilities"
A hybrid quantum-classical simulation is a computing method that combines a quantum processor for the parts of a problem that need quantum mechanics with a classical computer for control, data handling and optimization. Think of it as a specialist and generalist working together: the quantum device tackles the hardest, fundamentally quantum pieces while the classical machine runs the rest and steers the process. Investors care because this approach is the practical path toward using near-term quantum hardware to tackle complex problems in chemistry, materials science, machine learning and optimization that classical computers struggle with, potentially creating new commercial capabilities and competitive advantages.
quantum-accelerated simulation technical
"structured application of quantum-accelerated simulation"
Use of quantum computing techniques and algorithms, often alongside classical computers, to run complex simulations faster or with different accuracy characteristics than conventional simulations. Investors care because these faster or qualitatively different simulations can shorten product development cycles, improve risk and pricing models, speed discovery in fields like materials or drugs, or enable more efficient operations—similar to using a much faster engine to test many more design options in the same time.
pki technical
"Semiconductors, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), and Provisioning Services"
PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) is a system that creates and manages digital “keys” and electronic certificates to prove identities and secure online communications, like a bank vault and ID card for data. For investors, PKI matters because it helps prevent fraud, ensures that financial documents and trading instructions are genuine, and reduces regulatory and operational risk tied to hacked accounts or tampered disclosures.
quantum-resistant cryptography technical
"developing state-of-the-art Quantum Resistant Cryptography"
Cryptography designed to stay secure even if powerful quantum computers exist; it replaces or supplements today’s encryption so encoded data, signatures, and secure communications remain unreadable to future quantum attacks. Think of it as upgrading ordinary locks to ones that resist a new kind of master key — investors care because it protects customer data, financial records and transaction integrity, reduces legal and replacement risk, and can affect a company’s valuation and trust.

Enstone, United Kingdom / Geneva, Switzerland, Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

BWT Alpine Formula One Team and SEALSQ (NASDAQ: LAES) today introduce an expanded collaboration that brings quantum-powered computation alongside quantum-secure infrastructure to one of Formula One's most demanding engineering environments.

Building on the quantum-security partnership BWT Alpine Formula One Team and SEALSQ launched in November 2025, the project aims to add the technology developed by ColibriTD, a company part of SEALSQ quantum investment portfolio, to introduce hybrid quantum-classical simulation capabilities and extract additional insight from the team's available computing and testing resources.

The project represents a world first: the structured application of quantum-accelerated simulation to solve fundamental physics problems faster and more efficiently than classical methods alone, combined with advanced post-quantum data protection and purpose-built.

With the 2026 Formula One technical reset, being able to extract more insight from the simulations the team produces would be valuable.

The collaboration reached an initial milestone in July 2026, when engineers and executives from BWT Alpine Formula One Team, SEALSQ and ColibriTD met in Enstone to establish the project’s initial roadmap and identify priority areas for evaluation with the goal to develop a proof of concept (PoC).

SEALSQ’s Quantum Fund (SEALQuantum.com) is a strategic investment initiative launched in 2025 by SEALSQ and designed to accelerate the development of a fully integrated Quantum Vertical Sovereign Stack — a comprehensive end-to-end “Root-to-Qubit” ecosystem that ensures technological independence, cybersecurity resilience and trust in the emerging quantum era. ColibriTD, one of SEALSQ’s earliest investments through the Fund in 2025, has developed a solver capable of improving the calculation efficiency and accuracy of the equations that matter for applications including CFD, thermal, structural and multiphysics problems.

Carlos Moreira, SEALSQ CEO:

“This project with BWT Alpine Formula One Team is a perfect application of the Quantum Vertical Sovereign Stack SEALSQ is building through our $200 million Quantum Fund. By integrating the capabilities of portfolio companies such as ColibriTD within the SEALQuantum.com ecosystem, we are turning quantum technologies into practical solutions that deliver real performance gains in the most demanding industrial environments. “

David Sanchez, Executive Technical Director, BWT Alpine Formula One Team:

“We are in constant pursuit of better understanding in every area and are always looking at how emerging technologies can help us extract insight from data and simulations to underpin engineering decisions. Working with SEALSQ and ColibriTD gives us an exciting opportunity to explore the potential of quantum within our existing environment.”

Laurent Guiraud, Co-Founder of ColibriTD
“ColibriTD operates under constraints that mirror BWT Alpine Formula One Team: today's quantum hardware is limited in qubit count, coherence time and connectivity, much as the team's simulation budget is limited by regulation. H-DES is built specifically for this reality — a near-term, hardware-agnostic approach that extracts computational value from current and emerging quantum processors without waiting for fault-tolerant quantum computing, deployed alongside classical HPC rather than in place of it”.

About BWT Alpine Formula One Team:

BWT Alpine Formula One Team competes in the FIA Formula One World Championship with Grand Prix winner Pierre Gasly and rising star Franco Colapinto. The two drivers, under the leadership of Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore and Managing Director Steve Nielsen and piloting the revolutionary Alpine A526, are driving forward the team's charge during a highly competitive Formula One season. The team operates out of its Enstone factory in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, where it has been based since 1992, in its previous guises as Benetton Formula, Renault F1 Team and Lotus F1 Team. Enstone has a winning legacy with seven Formula One World Championships including the Drivers’ World Championship [1994, 1995, 2005 and 2006] with Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso, and the Constructors’ World Championship [1995, 2005 and 2006]. The team’s 2026 car, the A526, is designed and built on-site with the 1000-strong workforce working hard towards the new opportunities presented in the 24-race season.
