Top Technology Stocks by Gross Margin
Top technology companies ranked by gross margin, latest annual filings.
What Gross Margin Means for Technology Companies
Gross margin in technology reflects what is left of each revenue dollar after hosting, bandwidth, support infrastructure, or component costs are paid, before research, sales, and overhead are loaded in. Pure software tends to sit near the top of the corporate universe on this measure because the marginal cost of serving another subscription is tiny, while hardware and devices carry the full weight of components, assembly, and logistics, which compresses the figure meaningfully.
Why It Matters in Technology
For a software or platform business, gross margin is the cleanest proxy for operating leverage at scale: once the product exists, each new customer adds mostly revenue, not cost. Hardware firms earn thinner gross margins but may compensate with volume and attached services. Still, classification varies; some firms book customer support and fulfillment inside cost of revenue while peers leave them in operating expense, which makes headline gross margin comparisons across the sector genuinely hard.
What to Read Alongside
Pair gross margin with Revenue to size the base the margin applies to, Operating Margin to see how much research and sales investment the economics can still support, and Net Margin for the final bottom-line read.

How this ranking is built
Companies are ranked by gross margin as reported in their most recent annual filing with the SEC. Figures shown are in US dollars (or percent, as noted), rounded to two decimals.
- Source: annual 10-K / 20-F filings from companies trading on US exchanges (NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX).
- Fiscal year: whichever annual period the company has most recently filed. Fiscal years don't always align with the calendar year, so the "as of FY" stamp above reflects the most common year across the table.
- Filtered out: warrants, preferred shares, and duplicate listings that share a parent company's financials.
- Update cadence: refreshed as companies file new annual reports (typically within 60–90 days of fiscal year end).
