Top 100 Stocks by Share Buybacks
Top companies ranked by share buybacks, latest annual filings.
What Share Buybacks Mean for US-listed Companies
Share buybacks are the dollars a company spends repurchasing its own stock on the open market or through tender offers. The mechanic concentrates ownership for remaining holders and returns capital without triggering the dividend tax treatment. Buybacks leave the income statement untouched but show up prominently in cash-flow-from-financing, and the resulting reduction in share count lifts per-share earnings even when net income is flat.
Why Share Buybacks Matter
Buybacks can signal management confidence that the stock is undervalued and offer flexibility that a committed dividend cannot match. Yet gross buybacks often mask dilution from stock-based compensation, and net repurchases tell a different story than headline totals. Buybacks can also be debt-funded, which levers up the balance sheet, and timing tends to peak at market peaks rather than troughs, leaving some programs historically poorly timed from a capital-allocation perspective.
What to Read Alongside
Read buybacks alongside [Free Cash Flow](/financials/top-free-cash-flow-stocks/) to see whether repurchases are self-funded, [Net Income](/financials/top-net-income-stocks/) since buybacks boost EPS without growing earnings, and [Return on Equity](/financials/top-roe-stocks/) which buybacks inflate by shrinking the equity base.

How this ranking is built
Companies are ranked by share buybacks as reported in their most recent annual filing with the SEC. Figures shown are in US dollars (or percent, as noted), rounded to two decimals.
- Source: annual 10-K / 20-F filings from companies trading on US exchanges (NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX).
- Fiscal year: whichever annual period the company has most recently filed. Fiscal years don't always align with the calendar year, so the "as of FY" stamp above reflects the most common year across the table.
- Filtered out: warrants, preferred shares, and duplicate listings that share a parent company's financials.
- Update cadence: refreshed as companies file new annual reports (typically within 60–90 days of fiscal year end).
