Top 100 Biggest CapEx Stocks
Top companies ranked by capital expenditures, latest annual filings.
What Capital Expenditures Mean for US-listed Companies
Capital expenditures are the dollars a firm spends building, buying, or upgrading physical assets that will serve operations for years: plants, equipment, data centers, pipelines, stores. Unlike operating costs, capex does not hit the income statement in the period spent; it shows up gradually through depreciation. That accounting gap is why a heavy capex year can look different on the income statement than it does on the cash flow statement.
Why Capital Expenditures Matter
High capex can signal serious investment in future capacity, whether that is new plants, expanded distribution, or upgraded infrastructure. It can equally signal a capital-hungry business that traps cash permanently in physical assets, reducing what is available for dividends or buybacks. The figure is neither good nor bad in isolation; its meaning depends on whether returns on invested capital justify the spend and whether the assets built last as long as planned.
What to Read Alongside
Pair capex with [Free Cash Flow](/financials/top-free-cash-flow-stocks/) to see what remains after investment, [Net Income](/financials/top-net-income-stocks/) for the profit the asset base supports, and [Long-term Debt](/financials/most-indebted-stocks/) because heavy capex is often partly debt-financed.

How this ranking is built
Companies are ranked by capital expenditures as reported in their most recent annual filing with the SEC. Figures shown are in US dollars (or percent, as noted), rounded to two decimals.
- Source: annual 10-K / 20-F filings from companies trading on US exchanges (NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX).
- Fiscal year: whichever annual period the company has most recently filed. Fiscal years don't always align with the calendar year, so the "as of FY" stamp above reflects the most common year across the table.
- Filtered out: warrants, preferred shares, and duplicate listings that share a parent company's financials.
- Update cadence: refreshed as companies file new annual reports (typically within 60–90 days of fiscal year end).
