Top Financial Services Stocks by Dividends Paid
Top financial services companies ranked by dividends paid, latest annual filings.
What Dividends Paid Means for Financial Services Companies
Dividends paid is the cash a company returned to shareholders in the latest fiscal year, drawn from the financing section of the cash flow statement. In financial services, that cash leaves a regulated balance sheet: banks and insurers distribute from capital supervisors measure, and annual stress testing sets a ceiling on what can be released. The payout is therefore as much a regulatory outcome as a board's judgment about surplus capital.
Why It Matters in Financial Services
The dividend is central to how these companies are owned and valued, and its size against capital shows how much cushion management believes it holds. A payout that looks generous next to net income can be routine for an institution with a large equity base, so the useful comparison is with capital and earning power, not with profit alone. Repurchases carry much of the cash return in this sector as well.
What to Read Alongside
Read it with Net Income for the earnings behind the payment, Return on Equity for how hard the capital base works, and Share Buybacks for the rest of the cash returned.

This list ranks the total dollars paid out over the latest fiscal year, so the largest companies lead it; a big payout says nothing about the yield a share buys today. A company whose balance sheet runs above 150 times its market cap is left out, because at that gap the accounts are not in US dollars.
How this ranking is built
Companies are ranked by dividends paid as reported in their most recent annual filing with the SEC. Figures shown are in US dollars (or percent, as noted), rounded to two decimals.
- Source: annual 10-K / 20-F filings from companies trading on US exchanges (NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX).
- Fiscal year: whichever annual period the company has most recently filed. Fiscal years don't always align with the calendar year, so the "as of FY" stamp above reflects the most common year across the table.
- Filtered out: warrants, preferred shares, and duplicate listings that share a parent company's financials.
- Size floor: A company qualifies at $500 million in market cap or above. Below that, one mis-stated figure outranks the companies the list is about.
- Currency check: A company whose annual revenue runs above 15 times its market cap is left out, because at that gap the two figures are not in the same currency.
- Currency check: A company whose balance sheet runs above 150 times its market cap is left out for the same reason.
- Update cadence: refreshed as companies file new annual reports (typically within 60–90 days of fiscal year end).
